Welcome to the Nicosia Chess Club website. Our club is the biggest and most active club in Cyprus having always the most chess players taking part in the official Cyprus Chess Championship. Our target is to promote chess not only in our city but in every corner of the island of Cyprus.



2nd STANLEYBET- NICOSIA CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 COMPLETED

The 2nd Stanleybet- Nicosia Chess Championship 2007 has been successfully completed on Staurday, December 15th, 2007.

After a seven-round battle, FM KLERIDES PARIS ( Larnaca Chess Club), finished first with 6 points and FM MARTIDIS ALKIS and TRIGIORGIS GEORGE (Nicosia Chess Club) finished 2nd and 3rd respectively with 5.5 points.

6/5/2007 STANLEYBET- NICOSIA CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 COMPLETED

The final round, 7, of the Nicosia Chess Championship 2007 has been completed on Sunday 6th of May 2007. It was a very close fight for the first places until the end where 4 players ended up first with 5.5 out of 7. FM Martides Alkis was the winner, followed by Konstantinou Pavlos, FM BALTAG Julian and Renos Melas.

The elections of the Cyprus Chess Federation took place on Sunday March 11, 2007, and the new board was elected for the five available positions.

END GAME STRATEGIES by FM Alkis Martides completed

The lecture on end game strategies by FM Alkis Martides has been completed with maximum success on Tuesday March 6, 2007 at the Nicosia Chess Club. The lecture was about one and a half hour and all the 22 members that participated were all fascinated by the clear explanations of the lecturer as well as the ideas behind all the examples provided.

The Nicosia Chess Club is organizing a series of lectures with FM Alkis Martides and other chess experts in the coming future and it will be open to any club member of Cyprus.

On behalf of all the members, we would like to congradulate and thanks FM Alkis Martides for providing to all of us his knowledge.


4/3/2007 Cyprus Chess Championship 2007
FM Julian Baltag and CM Panikos Savva from our Club wins 1st and 2nd place

The Cyprus, 13 round, Chess Championship 2007 has been completed on Sunday March 4, 2007. Our Club members, Fide Master Julian Baltag and Candidate Master Panikos Savva has won the 1st and 2nd places with 11 and 10.5 points respectively followed by CM Antonis Antoniou (10 points) and FM Paris Klerides (9.5 points) of Larnaca Chess Club.

On behalf of the Nicosia Chess Club, we would like to thank all the players who participated in this Championship and especially the members of our club for their effort and their good results. Great thanks for FM Julian Baltag and CM Paniko Savva for their titles of best players of Cyprus Chess.

13/1/2007-14/1/2007 PAFOS CYPRUS TEAM CHESS CHAMPIONSHIP 2007 -

Nicosia Chess Club wins the Cyprus Team Chess Championship 2007.
The five round standard tournament was completed on Sunday January 14, 2007. The Nicosia Chess Club team (1 ) has won the tournament with a total of 16.5 out of 20 points. The team members were: Board 1: FM Julian Baltag scoring 4.5 points in five games. Board 2: FM Alkis Martides scoring 4.5 points. Board 3: Papatryfonas Constantinos scoring 5 points and Board 4: Vrahimis Boulos scoring 2.5 points.

Special thanks goes to the Nicosia Chess Club Teams 2 and 3 for their participation and good results (6th and 7th place out of 12 teams)
